Develop a sharper lens.– Dana Tomić Hughes
We joined Dana as she took Sightline to Sydney, Adelaide, Canberra and Brisbane – with Melbourne still to come on 3 September!
As advocates of good design, Vitrocsa Australia | New Zealand was glad to come on board as presenting partner when Yellowtrace founder and editor Dana Tomić Hughes staged an encore of Sightline, her sold-out, two-part live design intelligence briefing.
Vitrocsa shares many parallels with the insights Dana shares, and the knowledge she has accumulated over years of travelling the world of design.
What we took from it:
Develop a sharper lens
Design with an edge
Don't accept something because that's always how it is done
This is exactly how we think at Vitrocsa.
In 1992 Swiss engineer and watchmaker Eric Joray looked at window design and questioned, "Why is it done like this? Is this good design?"
He knew it could be better. He stripped the frame from the glass, engineered a new hidden track system and minimised all componentry, flipping the construction principle and designing something entirely revolutionary. The result? The modern minimalist window.
In her TEDx talk, Dana reminds us that "good design can be seen in the tiny details." At Vitrocsa, the tiny details are what we are.
Vitrocsa is the inventor of the modern minimalist window and continues to lead the world in the market we invented.
