Guillotine Doors & Windows
Swiss company Vitrocsa has developed a vertically sliding or ‘guillotine’ window and door system that can slide vertically in many different configurations. The same technology used on Vitrocsa’s sliding doors & windows is used on our Guillotine system. The same minimal frames and high thermal qualities still apply. Air, Water and Wind are all rated extremely high and with the tracks and frames hidden within the walls, ceiling and flooring this system creates a beautiful frameless view when open or closed.
When designed into double height structures the guillotine door makes an exciting and grand architectural statement. Most commonly used as a door the guillotine system can accommodate 1, 2, 3 or 4 panels measuring up to 2.5 x 4.7m each. Two or more sliding panels create openings to walk through at the bottom and ventilation at the top opening.
For applications using only 1 or 2 vertically sliding panels a unique counter-weight system allows the panels to glide up and down using a weighted pulley system hidden within the structure. This is particularly useful with smaller height openings, shop fronts or to act as a balcony.
In Australia, we have installed Guillotine systems that are used as a walkthrough door with a panel that slides down to disappear into a cavity in the ground when opened. When used as a door the guillotine system creates an enormous opening without any movable panels in the way.
Our guillotine doors and windows can be fitted with motorization so that with the push of a button the panels glide easily open or closed. Alternatively, can be operated manually. All Guillotine systems are fitted with a secondary cable as an anti-fall safety feature.
