This month, we had the privilege of chatting with Pip Marston from Marston Architects. We have collaborated on multiple award winning and published projects including the A&M Houses and Queens Park.

Why did you choose Vitrocsa Pivots for your Queens Park project?

Prior to the works, the living space was disconnected from the rear garden as well as being extremely cold in winter.

The new living space, located  on ground level was designed to enhance both the connection to the rear garden and the morning sun. The Vitrocsa pivot doors allowed us to achieve these design intentions.

The doors span the width of the space and do not require any track in the ceiling or floor, allowing the space to feel as though it expands beyond the glazing alignment. When closed, the span of each panel meant that we only required 1 division which helped achieve a minimal design aesthetic.

How has the Vitrocsa range changed the way you design for projects?

The slimline profile of both the sliding and pivot doors allows for a visually seamless transition between the internal and external spaces of projects. Larger spans of glass are possible reducing the number of doors required providing a minimal look and feel.

Queens Park - Marston Architects

What has been your experience with working with Vitrocsa?

Michael, Scott and the team were involved from Design Conception, right through to documentation and installation. With the team always willing to provide technical advice and suggested details, the entire process has been seamless – much like the doors themselves!

What would you say to an architect considering designing Vitrocsa systems into their projects?

It is worth engaging Vitrocsa early in your project to assist with detailing and product selection.

What makes Vitrocsa different to other glazing systems?

Each Vitrocsa system offers something more than just the average glazing system. The sliding doors, with their minimal frames, have drainage within the sub-sill and the pivot doors can be used for glass up to 15m2!

Is there anything you’d like to add?

We have been fortunate to discover a great product, backed up by a great team.
